Savannah Guthrie Breaks Down in Desperate Plea (Video)

Savannah Guthrie is holding onto hope — but for the first time, she’s also preparing for the unthinkable.

Nearly one month after her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, vanished in what the family describes as a nighttime abduction, the Today show co-anchor shared an emotional video update that left fans shaken.

It’s been 24 days since Nancy was “taken in the dark of night from her bed,” Savannah said in the heartbreaking Instagram message posted February 24. And every moment since, she admitted, has been pure agony.

“Every hour and long night has been agony,” she said. “We’re worrying about her. Fearing for her. Aching for her. And most of all, just missing her. Just missing her.”

Nancy was last seen at her home on January 31 and has officially been missing since February 1. Investigators have not identified any suspects, and the case remains unsolved.

Savannah said her family feels the weight of millions of prayers pouring in from across the country.

“So many people have been praying — of every faith and no faith at all,” she said. “We feel those prayers.”

Still, she urged supporters to “pray without ceasing,” insisting they continue to believe in a miracle.

“We still believe she can come home,” Savannah said. “Hope against hope, as my sister says. We are blowing on the embers of hope.”

But then came the moment that stunned viewers.

For the first time since her mother disappeared, Savannah acknowledged what no family wants to say out loud.

“She may be lost,” she said quietly. “She may have already gone home to the Lord that she loves… dancing in heaven with her mom and her dad and with her beloved brother Pierce and with our daddy. And if this is what is to be, then we will accept it.”

Even so, she made it clear: the family needs answers.

“We need to know where she is. We need her to come home.”

To help generate leads, the Guthrie family has now announced a massive reward — up to $1 million — for information that leads to Nancy’s recovery.

“There is someone out there who knows something,” Savannah said. “You can call the 1-800 tip line. You can be anonymous. Somebody knows. And we are begging you to please come forward now.”

In a powerful show of solidarity with other families facing similar nightmares, Savannah also revealed that her family donated $500,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. She said they hope the spotlight on their mother’s case will also shine on others living with devastating uncertainty.

“We know we are not alone,” she said. “There are millions of families coping with this kind of loss.”

Savannah closed her message with a raw plea directed at anyone who may have information.

“If you’ve been waiting… if you haven’t been sure… let this be your sign,” she said. “Please come forward. Tell what you know. Help us bring our beloved mom home — so we can either celebrate a miraculous homecoming or honor the beautiful, brave, courageous life she has lived. Please be the light in the dark.”

Then, through visible emotion, she ended simply:

“Thank you.”

As the mystery surrounding Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance deepens, one thing is clear — her family refuses to stop searching, even as they brace themselves for answers they may not be ready to hear.

  1. I’ll wait for the end of the series to binge it, like I did with The Sopranos. Somehow, though, I can’t get past the 7th or 8th episode of The Man in the High Castle.
