A wild crash. A torn-off car roof. And hours later, handcuffs.
That’s how one chaotic day unfolded for a Florida man after a violent wreck involving a school bus was caught on camera — and his troubles didn’t stop there.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, a Jaguar came barreling down a road in Fort Myers on Wednesday before smashing straight into the back of a bright yellow school bus.
Deputies say the luxury sedan appeared to accelerate rapidly just moments before impact.
The result? A devastating collision that left the Jaguar wedged beneath the bus — and its roof sheared off.
Shockingly, authorities say the driver, 32-year-old Jacob Novak, survived with what were described as relatively minor injuries. Even more remarkable: no children were on board at the time of the crash.
The bus driver wasn’t as lucky. Officials say the driver was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
Novak was cited for following too closely. Instead of being taken into custody, he reportedly walked home from the crash scene.
But the drama was far from over.
Later that same day, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence linked to Novak.
According to a police report, Novak and an unidentified woman initially told authorities their argument had been verbal only. But two eyewitnesses reportedly told a different story.
One witness told deputies they saw Novak push the woman multiple times against a garage door during the altercation.
Deputies noted Novak had visible injuries from the earlier crash. However, officers said the marks did not appear consistent with his claims about the domestic dispute, and they could not determine that the woman caused them.
Novak was ultimately arrested on one count of domestic battery — touch or strike — and booked into jail.
In a matter of hours, what began as a violent crash involving a school bus spiraled into a criminal arrest at home — capping off a day authorities won’t soon forget.
