Whoopi Goldberg Sparks Fears She’s Ready to ‘Die Alone’

Whoopi Goldberg has kicked off a fresh online uproar after doubling down on her plan to stay single forever — a declaration that’s left fans split between cheering her independence and worrying she’s talked herself out of finding love again.

The 70-year-old comedy icon opened up in a new interview published this month, revisiting a stance she’s held for decades: she simply prefers life on her own. And she didn’t sugarcoat it.

“I don’t give a f— what a partner wants,” she said, explaining that solitude and loneliness are two very different things for her. “I don’t necessarily get lonely, because there’s enough people around who don’t let me.”

Goldberg insisted she’s not missing out on companionship — she just values independence more than romance. She even joked about not wanting to negotiate dinner plans. “Sometimes you just want pasta. I don’t care if you want red wine or white wine,” she said.

Her comments have sparked debate about aging, relationships, and the pressure to couple up. One TV executive who’s worked with her said the bluntness rattled some longtime fans.

“Whoopi’s independence is part of her charm, but people are starting to wonder if she’s completely closed off to companionship,” they said.

A relationship therapist echoed the concern, noting that when someone describes partnership as an intrusion, it naturally makes observers fear they’ll end up isolated later in life — even if they insist they’re fine.

Goldberg has been married three times and famously dated Ted Danson and Frank Langella. But she has long maintained she’s happier with her own space. In the new interview, she said her emotional bandwidth goes toward her daughter, her extended family, and her nonstop work schedule — not romance.

“I’m not good at relationships,” she said. “I have enough to think about.”

A family friend told us that for Goldberg, love exists — just not in a romantic form. “But people still feel sad for her,” they added. “Even if she says she’s fine with dying alone, it’s tough for others to accept.”

Despite the chatter, Goldberg isn’t slowing down. She remains a fiery presence on The View and continues acting, recently appearing in Ezra, The Color Purple remake, Harlem, The Stand, and the upcoming Anansi Boys.
