‘Pulp Fiction’ Star Died from Accidental Gunshot Wound

Hollywood is mourning the sudden loss of Peter Greene, the character actor best known for playing intense villains throughout the 1990s, after officials confirmed he died from an accidental gunshot wound.

According to the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Greene’s official cause of death was a gunshot wound to the left axilla — the area under the shoulder — which severely damaged his brachial artery. The manner of death has been ruled an accident.

In simple terms, the bullet struck Greene in the left armpit and tore through a major artery responsible for supplying blood to the arm and hand. The injury proved fatal.

The 60-year-old actor was found dead in his Manhattan apartment in mid-December after a neighbor reportedly heard music playing throughout the night and alerted authorities. When police knocked and received no response, they conducted a welfare check and discovered Greene deceased inside the residence.

Greene carved out a memorable niche in Hollywood playing volatile, unpredictable characters. Many fans remember him as mobster Dorian Tyrell opposite Jim Carrey in the 1994 hit The Mask. His chilling screen presence made him a standout in crime dramas and thrillers throughout the decade.

He also appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, the cult classic The Usual Suspects, the gritty cop drama Training Day, and the action-comedy The Bounty Hunter, among many other projects spanning film and television.

Though rarely a leading man, Greene built a career on unforgettable supporting performances that added edge and danger to nearly every scene he entered. His work helped define the raw, crime-heavy cinema of the 1990s.

An unexpected and tragic end to a life that left a lasting mark on Hollywood’s darker side.
