SWAT Detains 3 in Connection to Nancy Guthrie Disappearance

The search for missing Arizona grandmother Nancy Guthrie just took a dramatic turn.

Late Friday night, a SWAT team descended on a home just two miles from the 84-year-old’s Tucson property — and three people were detained in connection to the case.

Acting on a tip, law enforcement executed a search warrant at the nearby residence, taking two men and the mother of one of them into custody, according to a local police source who spoke to Fox News Digital. It’s still unclear whether any of the individuals are official suspects.

Authorities have not confirmed details, but the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said a statement is “forthcoming.”

The high-intensity raid came just hours after investigators revealed a major development: unknown DNA was recovered from Guthrie’s property. Officials said the DNA does not belong to anyone known to be in “close” contact with her. The sample has since been sent to a lab for analysis.

Around the same time as the SWAT operation, agents were seen towing away a silver SUV from a Tucson restaurant parking lot, adding yet another layer of mystery to the rapidly unfolding case.

Nancy Guthrie — the mother of Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie — was last seen on January 31 at her Tucson home. Investigators believe she may have been forced from the property early the following morning, after a trail of blood was reportedly discovered.

Since her disappearance, multiple ransom notes have surfaced from individuals claiming responsibility. Despite the chilling messages, authorities have yet to publicly identify any confirmed suspects as the search stretches into its second week.

Earlier this week, a local delivery driver was briefly detained but later released after telling police he had never heard of Savannah Guthrie or her missing mother.

On Thursday, the FBI released a description of an armed man captured on Nancy’s Nest camera outside her home. According to federal officials, the individual is believed to be between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-10 with an average build.

The FBI has now doubled its reward to $100,000 for information leading to Nancy’s safe return or the identification of her captor.
