3 Teen Sisters Jump to Their Deaths Off Apartment After Parents Ban Online Game

A heartbreaking tragedy out of India has left an entire community reeling after three young sisters jumped to their deaths from a ninth-floor apartment in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police near New Delhi say the girls — Nishika, 16, Prachi, 14, and Pakhi, 12 — died instantly after leaping one by one from their family’s balcony around 2:15 a.m.

Authorities in Uttar Pradesh confirmed the incident on X, saying officers arrived to find all three girls unresponsive before they were transported to a nearby hospital and declared dead.

According to investigators, the sisters left behind an eight-page handwritten note in a diary addressed to their parents. The message reportedly described their deep attachment to online gaming and what their father called an “extreme addiction to everything Korean,” including a “Korean love game” they had been playing on his phone.

Their father, Chetan Kumar, told local outlet NDTV that he and his wife had recently taken away the phone to limit their daughters’ screen time — a move he now believes triggered the tragedy. Police confirmed the girls appeared extremely upset over the restriction.

The addiction reportedly took hold during the COVID-19 lockdowns, when the sisters’ gaming habits intensified so dramatically that they began skipping school. They eventually stopped attending altogether two years ago, NDTV reported.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Nimish Patel told the outlet that investigators have not identified the specific game the girls were focused on, but said it was clear they were heavily influenced by Korean culture.

“This should not happen to any parent or child,” their father told NDTV, saying he never would have allowed the game if he’d known what it involved.

Authorities say legal proceedings and a deeper investigation into the family’s home life and the children’s online activity are underway.

  1. As kids we used to play ball in the street, go to the park and ride on swings and play in the monkey bars, play tag or sit around and just talk to each other. Do these thing still exist? We’ve become addicted to the internet and that is changing our entire lives, for the worse. Kids should be banned from cell phones, iPad, etc until they have graduated high school. Someone should make a phone that’s only for use n corresponding so kids can contact their parents or friends, but no games.
