University Coach Handcuffed and Dragged Off Court by Police (Video)

A college basketball showdown between Tuskegee and Morehouse exploded into pure pandemonium Saturday when Tuskegee head coach Benjy Taylor was suddenly handcuffed and hauled off the court by police — right in front of his stunned players and a packed gym.

The 77–69 final score instantly became irrelevant as chaos erupted. Moments after the buzzer, a tense exchange between Taylor and a uniformed officer spiraled out of control. In a move that shocked everyone watching, the officer reached for his belt, pulled out handcuffs, and snapped them onto the coach as onlookers gasped.

Fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing — and neither could Taylor.

According to HBCU Gameday, the situation kicked off when a swarm of Morehouse football players stormed the floor after the game, creating a volatile scene. Taylor reportedly approached security in frustration, demanding to know why conference safety rules were being ignored as players shouted obscenities and pushed into the handshake line.

Tuskegee athletic director Reginald Ruffin said Taylor wasn’t causing trouble at all — he was trying to prevent it. But instead of defusing the chaos, things escalated straight into a postgame spectacle.

Taylor later told Field of 68 he felt “violated” and devastated that his players and family had to witness the moment. “It was a very dangerous situation,” he said, describing how quickly the atmosphere turned hostile.

The viral video shows Taylor looking absolutely stunned as the cuffs go on — then breaking into a disbelieving grin, as if even he couldn’t comprehend the absurdity of what was happening.

After the dramatic on-court detention, Taylor was eventually released and allowed to travel home on the team bus. But the fallout from this wild HBCU showdown is far from over — and fans are demanding answers.

  1. I agree this could have been handled behind closed doors. Officer created a very bad situation and the reaction by witnesses understandable. BAD incident
