My 600-lb Life Star Charity Pierce Dies at 50

The TLC reality personality passed away early Tuesday morning at 1:20 a.m., surrounded by loved ones, a family source confirmed. Charity had reportedly been in hospice care for the past month or two as she battled serious ongoing health issues.

According to the source, Pierce suffered from multiple medical conditions, including lymphedema and fluid buildup in her lungs. The fluid accumulation may have contributed to her death, though an official cause has not yet been released.

Charity’s death was also confirmed by her daughter, Charly Jo, who shared a heartbreaking message on Facebook announcing the loss. Charly revealed she was by her mother’s side. She was there when her mother took her final breath. Charly wrote that Charity is now “finally at peace.”

“I wasn’t going to post about this,” Charly explained. She received an overwhelming number of calls and messages. This led her to share the news publicly. She added that her mother is now reunited with loved ones who passed before her. She was grateful to be with Charity in her final moments.

Charity rose to national attention during Season 3 of My 600-lb Life. During this season, viewers followed her deeply personal struggle with severe obesity. They also witnessed her emotional trauma and life-threatening health complications. At her heaviest, Charity weighed close to 800 pounds before seeking medical help.

Her journey became one of the show’s most memorable. It featured dramatic weight loss and multiple skin-removal surgeries. Painful setbacks were caused by infections and personal challenges. She later returned to the franchise in My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now?, documenting her continued health battles and attempts to rebuild her relationship with her daughter.

In recent years, Charity faced a kidney cancer diagnosis. This medical issue required surgery. It added to her long list of medical struggles.

Charity Pierce was only 50 years old.
