A chaotic fight inside a Burger King in Georgia spiraled into a major police response — and ended with multiple people in handcuffs.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies rushed to a Burger King on Deans Bridge Road in Augusta after receiving reports of a shooting involving employees. The alarming call brought multiple law enforcement units and EMS to the scene late Thursday, January 22.
Once officers arrived, however, they discovered that no shots had actually been fired. What they did find was a full-blown physical brawl among workers inside the restaurant.
Authorities said several employees were actively fighting when deputies entered the building. While gunfire was ruled out, the situation was still considered extremely dangerous — one employee was reportedly holding a gun and pointing it at another person during the altercation.
“All are being arrested and will all be transported to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement shared on Facebook, adding that charges are expected to follow.
Burger King quickly responded to the disturbing incident. A spokesperson for the company told PEOPLE that the behavior was unacceptable and confirmed that the franchisee moved swiftly to terminate everyone involved.
“This is not the kind of guest experience our team members are trained to offer,” the statement read.
Law enforcement officials have not yet released further details about what sparked the fight or what charges the suspects may face. PEOPLE has reached out to the sheriff’s office for additional information.
The Burger King brawl comes amid a string of violent incidents at fast-food restaurants nationwide. Just months earlier, another fight erupted at a Texas Whataburger in October after a reported food mix-up.
In that case, San Antonio police said an argument escalated into a physical confrontation involving seven people inside the restaurant around 3 a.m. All seven were arrested and booked into Bexar County Jail on charges of assault causing bodily injury.
As for the Augusta Burger King, the investigation is ongoing — but authorities made one thing clear: everyone involved is facing arrest after the explosive scene inside the fast-food restaurant.

How many times can we be “shocked” by everyday behavior?
Fatiguers.
Guess they had it their way.
