During a recent visit to Scotland, Kate Middleton appeared momentarily overwhelmed while participating in a hands-on activity—until Prince William gently came to her rescue.

The royal couple were visiting Radical Weavers, a community studio that helps people process trauma through the art of weaving. As part of the visit, Kate was invited to select thread colors that held personal meaning before beginning her piece.

Faced with a wide array of choices, the princess hesitated, laughing as she admitted the decision felt surprisingly daunting. “How do you do that? It’s hard — I could spend a whole year thinking about this,” she said, noting that the process felt deeply personal and private.

That’s when William quietly stepped in.

“I can help,” he offered, selecting the colors for her and adding with a smile, “That’s quite a punchy mix.”

According to PEOPLE Magazine, William’s thoughtful support didn’t stop there. As Kate began weaving, he took her coat and held it while she settled into the loom — a small but telling gesture that highlighted the couple’s easy partnership.

The visit also spotlighted Kate’s continued support of British craftsmanship. She wore a blue tartan coat designed by Chris Kerr, a collaboration she personally contributed to, underscoring her commitment to the U.K.’s textile industry.

Speaking to The Telegraph, fashion director Bethan Holt said the project reflected how far Kate’s confidence has evolved. “It speaks volumes about her relationship with fashion and her growing assurance in using her influence with purpose,” Holt noted.

While Kate’s style continues to attract global attention, Kensington Palace made it clear in early 2025 that the focus of her public work is no longer meant to be on clothing. A palace source told The Times of London that while appreciation for her fashion is inevitable, the priority is substance over style.

“The style is there,” the source said, “but it’s about the causes, the people, and the impact.”

The couple’s short trip to Scotland celebrated local tradition and community while offering a rare glimpse into their relationship dynamic. William and Kate are parents to three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
