Prince Harry Breaks Down in Court Over Meghan’s Treatment

Prince Harry appeared on the verge of tears in a London courtroom as he delivered an explosive and emotional finale to his testimony, accusing British tabloids of relentlessly tormenting his family — and pushing Meghan Markle to the brink.

The 41-year-old Duke of Sussex wrapped up nearly two hours on the witness stand at London’s High Court on Wednesday, Jan. 21, in his lawsuit against Associated Newspapers, the publisher of the Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday. As he turned to address the judge, Harry’s voice reportedly cracked with emotion while describing the personal cost of taking on the powerful tabloid machine.

“By standing up here and taking a stand against them, this has continued to come after me,” Harry said, visibly shaken. “And they have made my wife’s life an absolute misery, my Lord.”

Inside the courtroom, the moment was described as raw and deeply personal. Harry paused, struggling to steady himself as he spoke about the years of press scrutiny he says have only intensified during the legal battle — not eased.

“Through the course of this litigation, it’s only got worse, not better,” he told the court. “It’s fundamentally wrong to put all of us through this again. What’s required is an apology and some accountability. It’s a horrible experience.”

Harry is one of seven high-profile claimants suing Associated Newspapers over allegations of unlawful information gathering — claims the publisher has fiercely denied. Other claimants include Elton John and Elizabeth Hurley, making the case one of the most star-studded and closely watched media trials in years.

Following the dramatic testimony, a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex blasted the publisher’s legal strategy, claiming its cross-examination “collapsed immediately under scrutiny” and accusing the Mail Group of rushing Harry off the stand after just two hours while avoiding the majority of the disputed articles.

After court adjourned, Harry made it clear he believes the spotlight belongs squarely on the media giant. “Today we reminded the Mail Group who is on trial and why,” he said.

In written testimony, Harry said his decision to fight back legally was driven by what he described as “vicious,” “intrusive,” and at times racist coverage of Meghan after their relationship became public in 2016 — coverage he says worsened during her pregnancy and after the birth of their son, Prince Archie.

The emotional courtroom showdown comes just a year after Harry reached a shock settlement with the publisher of The Sun, which reportedly included an eight-figure payout and a rare public apology acknowledging unlawful conduct.

Having traveled from California for the proceedings, Harry has described this case as his final stand against the British press — a dramatic and deeply personal battle he says is about far more than headlines, but about protecting his family from what he calls years of unchecked abuse.

  1. The way his wife and him made money telling things true or not about the Royals was and is gross! They deserve any crap they get!! No class!

  2. What would you do if they came at your spouse because she/he was considered beneath your class. It’s not money because they both have it. Maybe it’s you that’s bitter because you don’t have any……..🤔can anyone say jealous?

  3. I think all of this is due to Harry’s idleness. He has no job other than attending court hearings. I think he made a mistake by running away from the monarchy, where he was performing a very important humanitarian mission. In California, he hasn’t found anything meaningful to do; he’s simply a nanny for his children.

  4. Everything in this world is based in material things . . MONEY AND WEALTH. . SO MONEY TALKS EVERY THINGS ELSE . . .B.S WALK. THAT’S THE TRUTH.
