A dream vacation in Brazil turned into a blood-soaked horror scene when a woman was violently attacked by a shark — and the heart-stopping moment was caught on camera.
Tayane Dalazen, a 36-year-old lawyer and surfer, was snorkeling in the usually serene waters of Brazil’s Fernando de Noronha when one of the circling nurse sharks suddenly lunged and latched onto her thigh with terrifying force.
In the now-viral footage, Dalazen is seen thrashing and screaming underwater as the shark sinks its teeth into her flesh and begins to drag her down. Fellow tourists watched in panic. Her tour guide — now being called a hero — punched the shark until it released her.
“I felt him shaking my leg,” Dalazen said, recalling the nightmare scenario. “I was afraid to even reach out — I thought he’d bite my hand off.”
She was rushed to the hospital with a gaping wound and deep bite marks that she later posted to Instagram, showing blood streaked down her leg and a chunk missing from her thigh. Shockingly, she only needed two stitches, a tetanus shot, and antibiotics.
“Will I have a scar? Yes,” she posted. “But I’ll be a surfer with a shark scar. That even gives me some prestige.”
Dalazen insists there was no food, bait, or blood in the water. “We entered his habitat,” she said. “This wasn’t a random attack. It was an accident.”
Even more disturbing: witnesses say the same shark bit another swimmer’s shorts just minutes earlier.
Brazil currently leads South America in shark attacks, with rising incidents tied to booming tourism and overfishing. But few are as shocking — or as visually horrifying — as this one.
