Prince Harry and Meghan Planning Move Back to Britain?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Seen Laying Groundwork for Possible Return to U.K.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be inching toward a return to Britain, with a new security deal emerging as the key to any move back, according to multiple reports out of the U.K.

On Saturday, The Royalist reported that Meghan was preparing to return to the United Kingdom as early as this summer. A spokesperson for Harry dismissed that as “pure speculation,” but the London Sunday Times has since published a similar account, suggesting there is more behind the chatter than simple gossip.

The Sunday Times reports that Meghan’s return is expected to be tied directly to whatever new security arrangements Harry is able to negotiate with the British government. While the paper does not repeat tabloid claims that Meghan could be back in the U.K. ahead of the 2027 Invictus Games, it makes clear that she intends to be part of any renewed presence the couple has there.

A source quoted by the outlet said of Meghan: “I think she would come back with him and the children. They love to do stuff as a family whenever they can, and when they do things philanthropically, they often take the kids along privately. I can’t see a reason why he’d come over with the kids without her.”

The prospect of the Sussexes spending more time in Britain appears to be concentrating minds at Kensington Palace.

The Mail on Sunday reports that Prince William has added a seasoned crisis specialist, Liza Ravenscroft, to his communications team. Ravenscroft heads Edelman’s U.K. crisis and issues unit and has built a career working closely with high-profile clients under intense pressure. Palace sources insist she will operate in a “non-crisis” role, but the hire comes as speculation grows that Harry could regain his security and re-establish a more formal base in the U.K.

At the same time, government sources have pushed back on claims that Harry’s security restoration is already guaranteed, telling the Times that the risk review process is still ongoing and not “nailed on.”

Even so, the broader trajectory appears to favor Harry. He has secured a government-mandated security review, has seen a noticeable increase in media commentary arguing for the reinstatement of his taxpayer-funded protection, and has a publicity operation presenting such a decision as fair and necessary.

Harry has spent years and significant sums pursuing changes to his U.K. security status after losing automatic police protection when he stepped back from royal duties and moved to California. It would be surprising if he had pushed for a fresh assessment without believing it would ultimately lead to stronger protection.

The Invictus Games, Harry’s signature event for wounded and injured service members, is scheduled to be held in the U.K. in 2027, with Birmingham set to host. Planning for the games is already underway and could offer a natural framework for more frequent trips—and potentially longer stays—by Harry and his family, if the security issue is resolved.

Taken together, several threads now converge: reports that Meghan and the children could return, the formal security review, the lack of aggressive pushback from the King’s office on the idea Harry might appear alongside his father at Invictus events, and William’s move to bring in crisis-management expertise.

While nothing has been formally confirmed, the overall picture suggests active preparation for Harry to regain official security and to expand the Sussex presence in Britain—raising the prospect of a more permanent, or at least more regular, return to royal territory.
