In a jaw-dropping turn, famed defense attorney Alan Jackson has walked away from representing Nick Reiner — but not before dropping a bombshell.
Jackson, who once defended Hollywood heavyweights like Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein, told reporters outside the courthouse that Nick Reiner is “not guilty” of murdering his parents — legendary filmmaker Rob Reiner and longtime wife Michele Singer Reiner.
The couple was found brutally stabbed to death inside their upscale Brentwood home on December 14, 2025. Their son, 32-year-old Nick, was quickly charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
But now, the legal drama has taken another wild turn.
Nick appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday with a shaved head, a brown inmate jumpsuit, and a new legal team. Jackson and his crew met privately with the judge, then stunned the courtroom by announcing they were withdrawing from the case.
“It’s not possible for us to continue our representation,” Jackson told reporters afterward. But what really raised eyebrows was what he said next:
“Pursuant to the law of California, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder. Print that.”
Jackson didn’t explain why he quit the high-profile case, citing “legal and ethical” constraints. But insiders say it had nothing to do with his performance — and everything to do with behind-the-scenes tensions.
Nick’s siblings, Jake and Romy, reportedly had no idea their brother was switching attorneys. The Reiner family issued a brief statement: “They have the utmost trust in the legal process and will not comment further.”
Nick will now be represented by public defender Kimberly Greene, and his arraignment was pushed to February 23.
This isn’t the first time Nick Reiner’s name has made headlines. The former screenwriter of Being Charlie has publicly battled drug addiction and mental health struggles for years.
Sources say Nick has been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, a serious psychiatric condition, and had recently switched medications — a change that “sent him off the rails,” according to one insider.
Though he has yet to formally enter a plea, many expect Nick will plead not guilty by reason of insanity.
The next court date is set for late February, but this case is far from over. With a Hollywood legacy, a double homicide, and a mental health defense in play, the spotlight on Nick Reiner is only getting hotter.
Stay tuned.

Great excuse for killing your parents that gave you everything.
Just like all the poor little rich kids he’ll probably just get a slap on the wrist and get away with murder.
