Brigitte Bardot’s Heartbreaking Final Goodbye: Husband Reveals Last Words and Final Wishes

Hollywood icon Brigitte Bardot has been laid to rest — but not before her heartbroken husband revealed the emotional final moments of her life.

After decades away from the spotlight, the legendary French actress passed away on December 28 at the age of 91. Now, her longtime husband Bernard d’Ormale is sharing intimate new details about her secret cancer battle, final words, and touching burial wishes.

According to d’Ormale, Bardot quietly underwent two major cancer surgeries in the final weeks of her life. Despite her age, he said she handled the procedures “very well” after being rushed to the hospital in late November.

But her condition worsened.

On the morning of her death, Bardot whispered two words to her husband — words that had become their own private way of saying “I love you.”

“She said ‘pew pew,’” d’Ormale recalled. “It was the most moving moment of my life with Brigitte… I sat up and saw that she had stopped breathing.”

The Brigitte Bardot Foundation confirmed the phrase was her special expression of affection. She died at 6 a.m. that morning.

“I saw her suffering disappear in the next 15 minutes,” her husband added. “She became magnificent.”

The beloved actress was buried in a private service in Saint-Tropez, where she had lived for over 50 years.

But that didn’t stop the public from showing up in droves.

Crowds of fans lined the streets of St. Tropez, and a public tribute was held on the French Riviera with giant screens broadcasting the ceremony so the world could say goodbye.

In life and in death, Bardot did things her way. She once said she wanted to be buried near her animals — including a donkey, a goat, and a pony. But she will instead be laid to rest beside her first husband, director Roger Vadim, who died in 2000.

Brigitte Bardot was more than a movie star. She was a symbol.

She starred in 45 films, recorded 70 pop songs, and became a global sex symbol during the postwar Sexual Revolution. Whether she was strutting the Cannes beach in a bikini or posing nude for Playboy at 40, Bardot challenged conventions and broke boundaries — unapologetically.

Her love life was as iconic as her career. Four marriages, countless lovers, and tabloid headlines followed her for decades. She married actor Roger Vadim in 1952, then Jacques Charrier, then Gunter Sachs, and finally Bernard d’Ormale, who stayed by her side until the end.

Bardot had previously beaten breast cancer in the 1980s — refusing chemotherapy in favor of radiation, and entering remission in 1986. She also battled severe arthritis in later years, often seen walking with a cane.

But even as her health declined, Bardot remained a defiant force. She spent her final years advocating for animal rights, steering clear of Hollywood, and living life on her own terms.

Her story ended quietly in bed, with a whispered phrase and her husband watching over her.

But her legacy? Loud, unforgettable, and eternally iconic.
