King Charles is reportedly laying down the law with his youngest son — and Meghan Markle may not like what comes next.
According to royal insiders, the monarch is pressing Prince Harry to “get tough” with Meghan if he ever hopes to be welcomed back into the royal fold.
Charles, 77, recently revealed his cancer treatments will be reduced in the new year after promising results, but sources say his improved health has only made him more determined to rebuild family ties — starting with his estranged grandchildren, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4.
“Charles misses those children terribly,” one palace insider told RadarOnline.com. “He’s very aware time is precious. He wants peace with Harry — but not at the cost of never seeing his grandkids again.”
The King reportedly met privately with Harry at Clarence House three months ago in a fragile attempt to heal their fractured bond. But palace sources claim Meghan, 44, “has shown no interest” in bringing the children to the UK.
“Charles has been patient,” a senior royal aide said. “But he’s now telling Harry to take charge. If Meghan wanted a reunion, it would have happened by now.”
Despite the tension, Charles is said to still admire Harry as a father. “He lights up when talking about his children,” a source shared. “Charles remembers that feeling — he’s proud Harry’s devoted to his family, but he thinks it’s tragic they’re growing up disconnected from their heritage.”
Harry has previously said he wants Archie and Lilibet to feel “at home” in Britain, but royal insiders say his father worries that’s becoming impossible the longer they stay in California.
“As a traditionalist, Charles believes it’s wrong that his grandchildren know so little of their royal roots,” said a family friend. “He doesn’t want to force anything — but he’s losing patience.”
Still, even after years of royal turmoil, Charles hasn’t closed the door completely.
“He’s not focused on blame anymore,” the source added. “He just wants his son back — and to know his grandchildren before it’s too late.”

I’m sure William has had a hand in this “decision” coming from the King. And Charles must also take some responsibility for the reason why Harry hasn’t been welcomed “back into the royal fold”. He has the authority to say yay or nay when it comes to matters like this. He could have just as easily said “all is forgiven, welcome back” (essentially) and yet he didn’t – and I honestly think it’s *mostly* due to pressure from William (and possibly Catherine) as it would make their well-known decision of having him permanently removed a lot easier – Charles would be doing it for them, essentially. If Charles truly honors and respects family, then whether he likes her or not, he’d want the children to have their mother around. He knows first hand how it was for William and Harry when their mother was no longer around. No one is saying to bow down and kiss her feet and submit to her – just, at least, do what can be done to remain civil on all sides. Because we all know Meghan isn’t going to appreciate or go along with Harry “getting tough”. And he isn’t going to want to do that to the kids and risk a breakup. Andrew deserved being stripped of his titles and whatnot – what he did was serious and pretty much demanded action be taken. Harry hasn’t done NEAR the stuff that Andrew did so he should not be facing the same kind of consequences – not even close. I’m not saying Harry is innocent – I know he isn’t. It’s just that the punishment (being cut from the family) doesn’t match the “crime” of falling in love, getting married and having children and wanting to raise them away from the spotlight, at least for a limited time. Just because he chose someone that some in the family don’t like is irrelevant. I’m sure other royals have taken up with those the family didn’t like. Yes, some abdicated. Some didn’t. I just don’t think how they are forcing Harry into a corner is right or fair.
And this is coming from someone who isn’t really a royals follower.
