What began as a glittering Hollywood Christmas party at Conan O’Brien’s Brentwood home spiraled into something out of a nightmare.
Multiple guests say tensions exploded when filmmaker Rob Reiner and his troubled son Nick got into a heated argument that turned so loud and disturbing, partygoers thought it might end in violence.
At least one guest reportedly urged someone to call 911 — but Conan allegedly refused, saying, “It’s my house, my party. I’m not calling the police.”
Just hours later, the unthinkable happened: Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were found brutally murdered in their beds at their own home.
According to sources who spoke with the Daily Mail, the father-and-son clash left everyone rattled.
“They got into an argument — the father and son,” one insider recalled. “It got so bad that someone said, ‘We need to call the police.’ But Conan stepped in. He didn’t want a scene at his house.”
Another source described guests whispering about whether Nick should be placed on a mental health hold. “But Conan said no. He didn’t want cops at his house during a Christmas party.”
Witnesses told reporters Nick was acting “asocial” and “disturbing,” asking celebrities if they were famous and having a tense moment with comedian Bill Hader.
When Rob tried to pull his son aside to calm him down, voices were raised — and the festive chatter died down as the fight echoed across the room.
Rob and Michele soon apologized to Conan and left the gathering. No one knew what would come next.
Nick, who reportedly suffered from severe mental illness, was later spotted alone walking near a Brentwood gas station before checking into a Santa Monica hotel at 4 a.m.
Housekeepers later found his hotel bathroom “full of blood” and the bedsheets “stained and shredded.”
By the next afternoon, Rob and Michele’s daughter discovered their bodies at home. Nick was arrested that evening about 20 miles away.
A source close to the situation told RadarOnline.com that O’Brien is “devastated” and likely replaying the night in his head over and over.
“Only the murderer is responsible,” they said. “But it must be gut-wrenching for Conan to think about whether things could have gone differently. It’s just so tragic.”
Nick, who has a long history of substance abuse and psychiatric struggles, had reportedly been diagnosed with schizophrenia and had recently changed medications.
