Hilary Swank ‘Snaps’ at Mom Taking Terminally Ill Sons on Make-A-Wish Trip

It was a heartbreaking mix-up at LAX that left everyone feeling emotional — including Oscar winner Hilary Swank.

According to mom Jada Bafus, she was simply trying to wrangle her family for their dream Make-A-Wish trip to Disneyland when Swank, 51, allegedly mistook her for a paparazzo.

“At baggage claim, I was walking next to Hilary Swank,” Bafus explained in a now-deleted Instagram post. “I’m a fan, so I did a double take — and then pulled out my phone to call my husband and find my kids.”

But the “Million Dollar Baby” actress apparently thought the phone was pointed at her twin toddlers, Aya and Ohm — and snapped.

“She just thought I was taking a picture of her,” said Bafus. “She told me, ‘I hope you enjoy that picture,’ and stormed off.”

What Swank didn’t know: Bafus’ sons, Mason, 7, and Jack, 4, both have Duchenne muscular dystrophy — a devastating genetic condition that weakens the muscles over time. The family was at the airport for a once-in-a-lifetime Make-A-Wish trip to Disneyland.

“It just hurt my feelings,” Bafus admitted. “I was starting my son’s Make-A-Wish trip … It was just bad timing.”

Thankfully, the story didn’t end there. Swank later reached out privately through Instagram to apologize, explaining she was just trying to protect her kids from being photographed.

“I didn’t expect Hilary Swank to directly talk to me,” Bafus told Daily Mail. “I was taken aback.”

Her husband, Bryan, said he wasn’t angry either — just confused. “When you’re in that profession, it’s kind of part of the job to be photographed,” he said. “But we’re not upset with her.”

Swank, who welcomed her twins in April 2023 with husband Philip Schneider, has often spoken about how deeply she values motherhood. “This is something I’ve been wanting for a long time,” she said in a Good Morning Americainterview before their birth.

A tough moment for everyone — but at least it ended with understanding, grace, and a heartfelt apology.
