Patrick Mahomes and wife Brittany were given a huge scare this week after discovering their nine-month-old son is ‘highly, highly allergic to peanuts’.
Brittany shared a photo on her Instagram story of Bronze, her second child with the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, on Thursday after rushing him to hospital earlier this week.
The Kansas City Current co-owner suggested Bronze had suffered an allergic reaction after being unaware of his intolerance to peanuts, leading to a ‘very scary and frantic’ trip to the hospital.
‘My perfect boy,’ she wrote to her 1.3 million followers on the platform. ‘We took a very scary and frantic trip to the ER yesterday after finding out this guy is highly highly allergic to peanuts.
‘The scariest 30min of my life’.
While she didn’t go into any further detail, Bronze appears to have recovered from the allergic reaction after Brittany shared another photo of him sleeping in her arms later that evening.
‘Another tooth coming in so he needed some extra snuggles tonight,’ she said.
Brittany and the Chiefs superstar, who have dated since their high school days, welcomed Patrick ‘Bronze’ Lavon Mahomes III last November.
Their first child, two-year-old daughter Sterling Skye, was born in February 2021.
After he inspired the Chiefs to victory in last season’s Super Bowl, Mahomes and his family headed to Disneyland in California to celebrate.
‘Welcome to the happiest place on earth, Bronze and Sterling!’ Patrick and Brittany said in a joint Instagram post.
The Mahomes family also features in the Netflix docu-series ‘Quarterback’, where the QB opens up on his relationship with Brittany.
‘We kinda met in seventh, eighth grade,’ he said. ‘She was the grade above me, I was kind of the best friend, in the friend zone forever.
‘I used to walk her to class and was trying to flirt. When I was a sophomore in high school, she was a junior.
‘I actually got her a rose. I kinda had a crush on her. But I was getting a rose as a joke for Valentine’s Day.’
Mahomes is currently gearing up for the 2023 NFL season with the Chiefs, which takes on the Arizona Cardinals in its penultimate preseason fixture on Friday.
