USWNT star Megan Rapinoe recently called out her country for the way it has handled the subject of transgender athletes competing in women’s sports.
“We as a country are trying to legislate away people’s full humanity,” Rapinoe told Time magazine.
“It’s particularly frustrating when women’s sports is weaponized. Oh, now we care about fairness? Now we care about women’s sports? That’s total bulls–t. And show me all the trans people who are nefariously taking advantage of being trans in sports. It’s just not happening.”
On Monday night, tennis legend Martina Navratilova offered her thoughts on Rapinoe’s latest comments. Navratilova simply tweeted, “Yikes…”.

Clearly, Navratilova doesn’t agree with Rapinoe’s take on this situation.
The 18-time Grand Slam champion has been against transgender women competing in women’s sports. Earlier this year, Navratilova applauded World Athletics for excluding transgender athletes from women’s sports.
She stated “Once somebody has gone through male puberty, there is no way to erase that physical advantage. You cannot simply turn back the clock, for instance by trying to lower testosterone levels,” Navratilova said.
