Helicopter CRUSHES 8 People Over Children’s Party

This is the moment a bungling helicopter pilot crushes eight people while trying to scatter sweets at a party for children.

The accident caused the roof of some marquee tents to collapse onto a crowd in the Tha Chang municipality in the Muang district in Thailand.

The Thai navy helicopter was flying low to scatter flowers and sweets for kids celebrating a National Children’s Day event.

However, as the helicopter flew over the crowd, it sent powerful downdrafts that caused the outdoor tents to flatten and collapse on people attending the event.

A video filmed at the scene of the incident shows people screaming and running as the roof collapses.

A 58-year-old woman named by local media as Nareerat Khumkana was reportedly taken to the nearby Prapokklao Hospital in the Chanthaburi Province with a broken neck and a cut on her head.

According to the Bangkok Post, the Navy apologised for the incident and for the injuries caused to the victims.

Navy commander-in-chief Adm Choengchai Chomchoengpaet offered financial aid and medical care to the injured people, according to the Thai newspaper.

Thailand celebrates National Children’s Day on the second Saturday of January every year.

The day, known as “Wan Dek” in Thai, is usually full of fun activities for children and their families.

In 2017, a fighter jet crashed during a Children’s Day air show in Hat Yai, Songkhla province and the pilot died.

Sqn Ldr Dilokrit Pattavee was killed when the Swedish-made Jas 39C Gripen fighter jet crashed on a runway at Wing 56 during the air show while performing a surprise attack manoeuvre.

Thai media reported an airport fire engine overturned while rushing to put out the fire shortly after the crash. Hat Yai airport had to close to clear the runway.
