King Charles Praises William, Leaves Out Prince Harry in Christmas Speech

This year marks the first time King Charles III gave the royal Christmas Day speech following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Ahead of his address, many Brits were left wondering whether he’d give a mention to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

As most of you will be well aware, the couple announced they would be stepping down as senior members of the royal family in 2020, confirming that they would split their time between the UK and the US.

Since then, the pair have been all over the headlines amid the release of their explosive Netflix documentary series Harry & Meghan.

The series follows their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to leave their full-time roles with the Royal Family.

Despite opening up about some of the vitriol they’ve faced, particularly on Meghan’s side, they still seemed to face a slew of hatred online – including a shocking column from Jeremy Clarkson, which has since been taken down.

Whatever your take on the ongoing drama, it’s no surprise people were intrigued to see if King Charles would address the couple and their kids in his festive speech.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “1st Christmas speech from the King tomorrow, wonder if he’s gonna mention Harry, Meghan and his grandchildren.”

Another asked: “Are Harry and Meghan making an alternative Christmas Day speech?”

While a third chimed in: “Christmas just got interesting. Are we going to see a Christmas speech – beyond the grave confessional from The Queen in response to the Harry & Meghan docuseries?”

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told i that he thought Harry and Meghan wouldn’t get a mention at all, and instead Charles’ speech would most likely be a tribute to his late mother.

And it turns out he was right.

Addressing the nation today (25 December), Charles discussed The Queen and Prince Philip, and shared his condolences with those who have lost loved ones.

He went on to discuss solidarity in times of hardship, stating: “The Prince and Princess of Wales recently visited Wales, shining a light on practical examples of this community spirit.”

While William and Kate got a mention, Harry and Meghan didn’t get a look in.

Charles finished his speech by saying: “While Christmas is, of course, a Christian celebration, the power of light overcoming darkness is celebrated across the boundaries of faith and belief.

“So, whatever faith you have, or whether you have none, it is in this life-giving light, and with the true humility that lies in our service to others, that I believe we can find hope for the future.

“Let us therefore celebrate it together, and cherish it always.

“With all my heart, I wish each of you a Christmas of peace, happiness and everlasting light.”

  1. Kudos to leaving those two idiots out of the Christmas Day festivities. They didn’t need to be mentioned for all the trouble they’ve caused the RF this year. Let them be forgotten, idiots and liars that they are. They remind me of a friend’s two year old throwing a temper tantrum when things didn’t go his way. In years to come, Harry will (hopefully) come to his senses and see what a fool he’s been towards his family. MEghan has led him away from the only support network that he had. Once she’s finished with him, there will be no one to help him as she moves on to someone richer and more influential than a has-been prince. She DESIRES power and influence which is something that he won’t be able to provide anymore.

  2. If Harry were my kid, I wouldn’t mention him either. Or I’d say, “..as for that no good son of mine, Harry- he’s a bellend”.

    1. LOOKS LIKE YOU THINK CHARLES WAS A GOOD HUSBAND AND A GOOD FATHER…..HE WAS NEITHER…..MY CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIEL HAS MORE LOVE IN HIS PAW THAN THAT INANE THRONE SITTER THAT CAN’T EVEN TIE HIS OWN SHOES….
