Paraglider Kevin Philipp is lucky to be alive after his glider lines became badly entangled while plummeting to the ground — before literally getting his rescue parachute open about one second before impact!
And, the entire death-defying ordeal was caught on video.
Philipp shared the terrifying clip Monday … showing him paragliding thousands of feet in the air when suddenly his lines become tangled. Badly tangled.
KP — who’s an aerobatic paraglider (think crazy stunts under a large glider) — desperately tried to straighten out the lines, but the attempt was futile.
It appears Philipp attempted to deploy his reserve chute, but that wouldn’t open, either.
Then, about a second before the would-be impact, Kevin ripped the bag containing the rescue chute, which then opened … in all likelihood, saving his life, and at the very least, averting serious injury.
“Oh my God!” Philipp yells after landing (hard) into a small tree.
Philipp posted the video on YouTube, explaining “strong turbulence” caused the lines to tangle.
As for how close he was to disaster, Kevin wrote … “The falling speed increased a lot due to the twisting wing. Very last chance was to manually open the rescue package. Estimated time left about 1 second This was not the day to die!”
Despite the close call, Philipp says incidents like this are uncommon.
“This occasion is quite unlucky and rare. Just to keep in mind. Fly high, land safe 😉”
According to Florida governor Ron DeSantis’ office, The View recently invited the Republican governor onto the show, but the governor has declined the offer.
Bryan Griffin, the Deputy Press Secretary for DeSantis, tweeted on Monday, “@TheView emailed our office on Friday asking for us to arrange an appearance from Governor DeSantis on the show. ‘We would be honored,’ they wrote.” He then asked his followers,”Thoughts?”
.@TheView emailed our office on Friday asking for us to arrange an appearance from Governor DeSantis on the show. “We would be honored,” they wrote.
Tuesday morning, Griffin shared the governor’s office’s response to the invite, in a letter quoting The View‘s hosts that asked “which of the following statements from the hosts of The View do you recommend our team consider when deciding if the interview would be a geniune puruit of the truth?”
In one quote, Joy Behar calls DeSantis “a negligent, homicidal sociopath,” and in another quote, Sunny Hostin calls him “fascist and a bigot.”
The governor’s office ended the letter by saying, “We will pass on this offer.”
DeSantis is attempting to ban all abortions in Florida after 15 weeks, with no exceptions for victims of rape, incest, or human trafficking. As of June 30, a Florida judge blocked DeSantis’ efforts, but the governor has said he would continue to push for the legislation.
The British millionaire owner of a firm supplying face masks to the NHS has died in a yacht accident in Italy.
Dean Kronsbein, 61, was fatally injured off Sardinia on Sunday, in an incident which reportedly left his wife and daughter seriously hurt.
Authorities said Mr Kronsbein suffered fatal injuries when the 70ft Amore yacht collided with rocks off Porto Cervo.
He was pulled from the water but pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of medics, according to local media.
A spokesperson for the family said Mr Kronsbein was a “much-loved family man.”
“It is with great sadness that we can confirm that Dean Kronsbein has been killed in a boating accident,” the spokesperson said.
“A much-loved and respected family man, friend and business colleague, it is a tremendous shock and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. We politely request that the family are allowed time and space to come to terms with their loss.”
The businessman was on board with his wife and daughter during the incident which occurred when the captain attempted to steer away from another boat but crashed into rocks forcing the business owner overboard, MailOnline reports.
Mr Kronsbein was the founder and chairman of Ultrafilter Medical – a multi-million pound company which manufactures face masks for NHS workers. In 2020 he bought a four-bedroom villa in Sardinia after renting regularly in the area.
Family lawyer Egidio Caredda told MailOnline: “As you can imagine this has been a terrible shock for the family.
“I was contacted by Mr Kronsbein’s son to help them with the situation, and I am giving them all the assistance I can.
“The local authorities are still investigating the exact circumstances and we will also be speaking to witnesses to establish what happened.
“Mr Kronsbein’s son Dustin flew out from England when he heard the news and he has been with his mother and sister. They are both very seriously hurt and are receiving significant medical treatment in hospital.”
Earlier this year, Mr Kronsbein led the Great British Mask Giveaway donating 100,000 to locals in Grimsby where he grew up.
At the time he said: “We didn’t have a lot and I started working on a local farm, picking potatoes during the school holidays, to earn extra money.
“In those days, we were allowed to take as many potatoes as we wanted to home for our families and I quickly spotted an opportunity to create a home-delivery service for local housewives, taking orders for different types of potatoes before delivering them to their door on a pedal bike I bought to get me to the farm and back.
“I’ve never forgotten how difficult those times were and, when I returned to the UK with my family in 2017, I wanted to give something back.”
A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) spokesperson said: “We are providing support following a maritime accident in Sardinia, including to the family of a dual national who has died.
Wynonna Judd is said to be speaking with attorneys about formally contesting her late mom’s will which left total control of her $25 million fortune and estate to her widower husband.
As Radar revealed, Naomi Judd made no mention of her daughters Wynonna or Ashley in her official last will and testament in what some called a baffling decision.
Instead, the Grammy award-winning country legend rested all power with her husband of 33 years, Larry Strickland.
The decision has sparked a bitter battle between the squabbling sisters with Ashley believed to be siding with her late mom and Larry.
“Wynonna was banking on getting a piece of the pie,” dished a source, adding Wynonna, 58, believes Ashley and Larry “conspired against her.”
A source close to Ashley, 54, said she believed her mother “knew what she was doing” by not dropping a big stack of cash in her sister’s lap.
“Wynonna has had money problems throughout her adult life,” a family friend confided.
“She’s blown through every dollar she made with The Judds. She even checked into a treatment facility in 2004 for a ‘money disorder!”
Wynonna or Ashley have long been at odds. Wynonna did not invite Ashley — or her mother — to her 2012 wedding to country music legend Cactus Moser.
Their feud exploded in 2013 when Ashley claimed in a court filing that Wynonna had a tracking device planted on her sister’s car.
As we previously reported, Naomi tragically shot herself dead at age 76 on April 30 after a long and hard-fought battle with mental illness.
In the will, Naomi wrote, “I nominate and appoint my spouse, Larry Strickland, as Executor of my estate.”
“In the event my spouse ceases or fails to serve, then I nominate and appoint my brother-in-law, Reginald Strickland, and Daniel Kris Wiatr as Co-Executors. I direct that no bond shall be required of my Executor,” the document read. Naomi and Larry had been married since May 1989.
Back in May, weeks after Naomi’s death, Wynona announced she would be moving forward with the previously announced The Judds: The Final Tour dates.
At the time, Larry said, “I am so happy that in this time of grief for us all, Wynonna has agreed to move forward with this tour as my sweet wife, Naomi. would have wanted her to do.”
The family has become divided in the months since.
A 3-year-old girl has died after her mother accidentally drove her car over the child in a Colorado driveway, according to police.
Colorado State Patrol said the girl was fatally struck by the vehicle at a home near Colorado Springs on Sunday, July 31, while her mother was behind the wheel.
Police arrived at the home after they were alerted of reports of a child being run over by a car in the morning, according to CBS affiliate KKTV.
Officers found the young girl was critically injured and she was rushed to the hospital shortly afterwards. The network reported the girl died of her injuries.
Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for children in the U.S, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported.
in 2019, 608 child passengers aged 12 and younger died in motor vehicle crashes across the country while more than 91,000 were injured.
According to an incident report obtained by KKTV, the mother had tried to reposition her vehicle when another car drove by which caused her to brake.
When the mother started to reposition her car again she did not realize the child had run out into the path of the vehicle, police said. She was in the mother’s blind spot when the car started to move, the network reported.
Police identified the driver as a 27-year-old, but they did not release her name. Drugs and alcohol were not believed to have been involved in the tragedy.
There have been numerous cases where drivers have killed children while behind the wheel of a vehicle.
Neuroscientist, and writer Carl L. Hart explained how meth is almost identical to Adderall.
This is shocking to say the least, especially since so-called educational campaigns regarding methamphetamine addiction show young people using the drug for the first time, and then doing out-of-character acts such as prostitution, stealing from their parents, or robbing strangers just so they can buy the drug.
There are also the meth-mouth images that we’re all familiar with: toothless mouths or mouths with raging tooth decay, and how this is a direct result of methamphetamine use.
Hart writes, “Swayed by this messaging, the public remains almost entirely ignorant of the fact that methamphetamine produces nearly identical effects to those produced by the popular ADHD medication d-amphetamine (dextroamphetamine). You probably know it as Adderall: a combination of amphetamine and d-amphetamine mixed salts.”
Hart isn’t suggesting that everybody who has been prescribed Adderall should throw their medication down the toilet so they don’t become meth addicts. He’s saying that we as a society should perhaps look at methamphetamine more like we do d-amphetamine, and be less judgmental of people who use meth and treat them with more compassion than contempt.
Dr. Hart and his colleagues conducted a study that helps to back up his statements regarding methamphetamine and d-amphetamine.
The study stated: “Anecdotally, methamphetamine is considered to have a greater abuse potential compared to d-amphetamine, but there are no studies directly comparing self-administration of these drugs. This study characterized and compared self-administration as well as the mood, performance, and physiological effects of intranasal methamphetamine and d-amphetamine.”
For the study, the researchers had 13 men who used methamphetamine on a regular basis and gave each one either a dose of methamphetamine, d-amphetamine or of a placebo on separate days under double-blind conditions. This was repeated multiple times over several days with multiple doses of each drug.
The scientists found that like d-amphetamine, methamphetamine increased the participant’s energy levels and enhanced their ability to focus and concentrate. It also reduced feelings of tiredness and fuzzy thinking brought on by fatigue and sleep deprivation.
Both drugs affected blood pressure and the heartbeat rate.
When the participants were asked to choose between either the drugs or various amounts of money, the subjects chose to take d-amphetamine equally as often as they chose to take methamphetamine. These habitual methamphetamine users couldn’t tell the difference between the two.
Dr. Hart says, “It is true that the effects of smoking methamphetamine are more intense than those of swallowing a pill containing d-amphetamine. But that increased intensity is due to the route of administration, not the drug itself. Smoking d-amphetamine produces nearly identical intense effects as smoking methamphetamine. The same would be true if the drugs were snorted.”
Donald Trump has always had a Tom Brady obsession, and now, we might know the reason why. Jared Kushner is offering insight into his courtship of Ivanka Trump in his upcoming book, Breaking History: A White House Memoir, and it surprisingly involves the NFL star.
Kushner and Donald Trump got off to a rough start because he was the publisher of the New York Observer at the time. His future father-in-law sent off an angry missive to him when he didn’t like his standing on the magazine’s annual “Power List” in 2007.
“Please stop sending me your paper, so I don’t have to read bullshit like this anymore!” Trump wrote in an excerpt provided to Forward. That ego-driven letter sounds about right, and it was a warning sign to Kushner, which he obviously didn’t heed.
Two years later, Kushner was dating Ivanka, and was time to start discussing possible proposal details to Donald Trump and her conversion to Judaism. “I could feel my voice shake as I managed to say that Ivanka and I were getting more serious and that she was in the process of converting,” Kushner wrote.
“Well, let me ask you a question,” Donald Trump asked his future son-in-law. “Why does she have to convert? Why can’t you convert?” Noting that it was Ivanka’s decision to make, Donald Trump also added a bit of competition into the mix for Kushner, reminding him that Brady still had an interest in his daughter, so he better have the best intentions with the upcoming proposal.
That isn’t exactly how the story went down, according to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback. Howard Stern mentioned to Brady in a 2020 interview that he knew that “Trump always dreamed of you marrying Ivanka,” and he pressed on to ask the athlete if they ever dated. “That was a long time ago in my life,” Brady answered awkwardly.
“No, there was never that where we ever dated or anything like that.” And if you know the Brady-Gisele Bündchen timeline, then you know they married in 2009, the same year Kushner walked down the aisle with Ivanka. So, it seems that Donald Trump was playing wishful matchmaker in his head because he wanted Brady as his son-in-law — and nobody else was onboard with this scenario.
