A woman has found out the man she thought was her dad killed her real father for having an affair with her mother.
For years the Turkish woman, named as Berrin N in local media, thought her mother’s husband was her father but in fact she was born as the result of an affair with the man he went on to kill.
It was only when her half-sister blurted it out in a row that she realised her mother’s lover Mustafa Uyanik was her biological dad.
Berrin, 49, is now suing her mother’s husband – named only as Mahir A – for “denial of lineage”.
A DNA test has ordered by the court has found they are not related.
According to local media reports, Mahir A turned himself to police in 1982 for killing the head of a village for having an affair with his wife.
She had kept the affair a secret and when she gave birth to Berrin, her husband was registered as the father.
Berrin was reportedly raised by Mahir as his own daughter but became suspicious that her mother was having an affair and started to follow her.
When he caught her in the act with Uyanik in a field in their village and then killed his love rival but failed to kill Fatma.
Berrin was nine years old at the time and the secret was maintained even after Mahir served time in prison for the killing.
Her mother Fatma A. had died some years ago and never told her daughter the truth.
It is not clear when her sister discovered Berrin’s true paternity, but she dropped the bombshell during an argument between the pair over Mahir’s estate.
