Whoopi Goldberg Says Republicans Oppose Ketanji Brown Jackson Because She’s Black

Co-host of ABC’s “The View” Whoopi Goldberg claimed Monday that Senate Republicans were opposing the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson because of her race.

During a segment focused on the Senate Judiciary Committee vote to send Jackson’s nomination to the full Senate, Goldberg argued that Republicans on the committee were not going to vote for Jackson because they “don’t trust a Black woman to do the job.”

Goldberg began the segment by playing a video clip of Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., announcing over the weekend that he would be voting against Jackson’s confirmation while also recognizing the historical significance of the nomination with the latter potentially becoming the first Black woman to sit on the nation’s highest court.

“You know what? Let me shut up. Lest I start some new stuff,” Goldberg said after playing the clip, appearing frustrated. “You know, this is the most ridiculous – just say, ‘I don’t trust a Black woman to do the job.’”

She then claimed the senators opposing Jackson “didn’t have these same issues” with now-Justice Amy Coney Barrett during her 2020 confirmation despite Barrett answering their questions “the same way” as Jackson.

Goldberg’s claim may be based on a question posed to Jackson about the size of the Supreme Court, in which she cited Barrett in declining to answer a “politically controversial” question outside of the “judicial role.”

Barrett did decline to answer a question in the same way. However, it was a question regarding climate change and not the size of the court.

“You know what? I know what this is. We all know what it is. We recognize it. We’re used to this,” Goldberg said, continuing to allude to race.

Goldberg later argued that “race aside,” Jackson had “the chops to do the job,” and that senators opposing her weren’t thinking about what’s right for the American people.

The Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to advance Jackson’s nomination to the full Senate with a vote on Monday.

Jackson’s full confirmation is all but secure as Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, has already announced her intention to join Democrats in voting in favor of her nomination.

  1. I could give a rat’s behind if Brown is Black or Indigo. I oppose this nominee because she is a Leftist Socialist who opposes what the Constitution stands for.

    1. I am so sick of hearing …it’s because he, she, it, is Black! NO, It’s because you’re a total uneducated idiot, and she is AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION, and a NUTCASE TO BOOT!

  2. No we reject gorilla face black racist Whoopi because she is black and uses it as a weapon against all other cultures another black entitlement spoon-fed leftist government example of what happens when you give non deserving people things they didn’t earn

    1. So then why do conservatives love Justice Clarence Thomas???
      Oh, I know…. because he’s black…. yep, that’s the only reason.

      1. Sammy , We do not “love” Justice Thomas. We respect him as he stands for the Constitution. We don’t give a rat’s behind what his pigmentation is. You see, unlike you Lefties we are not racist.

    2. Anonymous, if you have never read the Constitution you would have no idea of what the Constitution stands for. If you really have that question I suggest you take three courses at Hillsdale College on line.: Introduction to the Constitution, Constitution 101 and Constitution 102.. They are right up your alley. They are free!

  3. It is so unfortunate that Whoopi is stooping so low to tell us what republicans think – she had absolutely no clue because she herself is a flaming progressive so she is blinded and deaf to anything that is not along progressive think. Prior to the Senate hearings on Jackson, I was all in for this woman being voted in; however, after watching as much as I could stomach of the Senate Hearings, I am opposed of her election because she is lenient on sentencing pedophiles and doesn’t believe in the Constitution or Bill of Rights.

  4. Whoopi just opened herself up to a major lawsuit. She is going to have to prove in court how Republicans are opposed to Brown. This is going to end Whoopi. Her mouth is wide enough to fit in 5 Mack Trucks and it will also turn and bite her own self! She must not believe in God.

  5. Remember that this “Woman” can’t tell if someone is female or male, because as she stated in the hearings: “I’M NOT A BIOLOGIST”… I can tell by looking downwards towards the neither regions and can figure it who’s male and who’s female in a SNAP!

  6. It is people like her that keep stirring up the pot about “Racism”. This has nothing to do with color. Being considered for a place on the Supreme Court requires someone that is unbiased and goes by the book/rules instead of trying to make changes. I don’t believe that she can do that. With all the uproar about how unfairly minorities have been treated, there are too many people that are trying to do away with the constitution as it is written. Instead of changing the constitution we all need to change the way we think and treat each other. Whoopi needs to quit feeding into the Poor Me attitude. She shows herself to be one of the most racist, antagonistic people on television. Not sure why she thinks any of us really care what she has to say.

  7. Another ni**er pulling out the well worn race card. Some things never change. Well, one thing does. Goldberg just keeps getting uglier and uglier.

  8. Robert Wayne your true colors are showing. Any remarks on any subject can be answered in a civil and decent way. Be a civil human being.
I oppose Ms. Jackson because Of her politics and position on sentencing certain cases that came before her. As a SCOTUS Judge I think all your rulings should be dictated by the Constitution. No leaning one way or the other.

  9. One other thing that’s seems to cloud some people minds is this “historical” mark.
We should be more concerned about Ms. Jackson political views and how they will affect her rulings on cases that will probably impact all of us.
The first Black Woman on the SCOTUS, I don’t care about that. I am concerned about her political views and does she believe in the Constitution.

  10. It all about black please stop this stop I am black I don’t care about the color of the skin one planet that God created for all to live in peace. When we die we go to the same hole that everybody is going to same dirt you are going to see your creator sooner or later or cut it off because is your eyes close it’s over
