Love Triangle Leads to Murder: Couple Beat Woman’s “Girlfriend” to Death and Steal Her Car

A man and woman were arrested in Arkansas after allegedly beating a woman to death, stealing her car, and using her credit card.

According to a Tulsa Police Department statement, on Jan. 4 at approximately 4:45 p.m., officers conducted a welfare check on Sarah Maguire at a residence near 28th West Avenue and West 39th Street. Responding officers located Maguire inside the home dead from apparent blunt-force trauma. Officers reportedly noticed her car and other personal belongings were missing from the home.

KNWA/KFTA-TV reports officers in Fayetteville, Ark., responded to a report of a car matching the one taken from Maguire’s house in a Whataburger parking lot. Suspects Brinlee Denison and Nicholas Johnson were reportedly found in the vehicle and taken into custody. Denison and Johnson allegedly used Maguire’s credit card to buy meals at Whataburger and were seen on video in the restaurant.

Tulsa Police said in their statement they are recommending first-degree murder charges for both Johnson and Denison. They will reportedly be extradited to Tulsa from Arkansas “in the near future.”

According to a probable cause affidavit cited by KFOR-TV, Denison and Johnson are in a relationship, but Denison was also reportedly dating Maguire at the same time. Johnson allegedly said he was jealous about their relationship and that Denison helped in planning the killing. KFOR reports Denison and Johnson allegedly attacked Maguire with a crowbar and then had sex in her bed after killing her.

The affidavit reports says Johnson “could still hear the victim in the living room struggling to live.”
