Taco Bell Worker Shot by Drive-Thru Customer After Rejecting Counterfeit Money

Police in Los Angeles say that a man shot and killed a Taco Bell employee after the worker refused to accept a fake bill as payment on Saturday evening.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told Newsweek that the victim, a 41-year-old man, was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. on Saturday, when the shooter, who was driving a black sedan, attempted to use a counterfeit bill at the drive-thru window of the restaurant. The employee declined, and the suspect opened fire before fleeing the location, police said.

A report from CBS Los Angeles shows the drive-thru window’s glass riddled with bullet holes.

Police haven’t made any arrests in connection with the killing and say that the suspect is at large. The police spokesperson said the department didn’t have any additional information about the shooting Saturday night.

In another recent incident at a Taco Bell, a customer allegedly opened fire at employees. Police said Amy Gale, 19, was accused of shooting at workers at the restaurant in Belleville, Illinois, in December after getting into an argument about her order.

“A female customer at the drive-thru was reportedly unhappy with the service at the business and had a verbal argument with an employee at the drive-thru window,” police stated at the time. “The female customer displayed a handgun and fired a shot through the drive-thru window. The female customer then drove around the business firing several more shots into the business.”

Gale was charged with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm and three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm.

In July, a woman in Dolton, Illinois, was killed following a police shooting, after she made violent threats at a drive-thru. The incident occurred at Baba’s Famous Steak & Lemonade, and police said the woman was upset that the restaurant’s drive-thru had been closed for the night.

When police arrived on the scene, officers asked the woman to leave her vehicle. The woman allegedly attempted to drive away while an officer was trying to remove the keys, dragging him and leaving him with serious injuries. Another officer who was hit by her vehicle fired at the woman, and vehicle then crashed into a nearby bicycle store.

In Ohio in December, a woman was arrested after allegedly firing multiple shots into a Wendy’s drive-thru lane when she got frustrated over how long her order was taking.

No one was injured during the shooting.
