Ghislaine Maxwell’s Strange Reaction to Guilty Verdict

Ghislaine Maxwell had an unusual reaction to her guilty verdict in Manhattan Federal Court on Wednesday.

The 60-year-old was found guilty of assisting American financier Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse teenage girls.

Concluding a month-long trial this week, Maxwell was found guilty of five charges in total, including sex trafficking of an individual under the age of 18.

While no date has been set for her sentencing as of yet, Maxwell could face up to 65 years in prison as a result of the verdict.

Reporters covering this week’s trial couldn’t help but notice that the socialite had an interesting reaction to the verdict.

As the verdict from the 12-person jury was read, she appeared unfazed.

One federal courts reporter for the New York Daily News tweeted: “I was in the courtroom as Ghislaine Maxwell was found guilty on five counts carrying a potential 65-year prison sentence.

“As the decision came down, Maxwell did not cry, but was stoic—she whispered in her attorney Jeffrey Pagliuca’s ear and took sips of her Fiji bottled water.”

Another correspondent for ITV News reported: “As the verdict was returned she poured a glass of water, hugged her legal teams and left for the cell and her return to prison.”

Jurors deliberated for five full days before finding Maxwell guilty of five of six counts. They had heard how Maxwell groomed vulnerable girls for Epstein.

A statement from the US attorney’s office said: “A unanimous jury has found Ghislaine Maxwell guilty of one of the worst crimes imaginable – facilitating and participating in the sexual abuse of children. Crimes that she committed with her long-time partner and co-conspirator, Jeffrey Epstein.Advert10

“The road to justice has been far too long. But, today, justice has been done. I want to commend the bravery of the girls – now grown women – who stepped out of the shadows and into the courtroom.

“Their courage and willingness to face their abuser made this case, and today’s result, possible.”

Meanwhile, eyes are now on Prince Andrew, who is said to have been another associate of Jeffrey Epstein’s.

The Duke of York is set to face his own civil court case brought against him by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who claims she was forced to have sex with him when she was underage and trafficked by Epstein.

Prince Andrew has denied all charges against him.
