Madelyn Allen’s Kidnapper Asks to be Freed for Christmas

Brent Brown, 39, is accused of abducting Madelyn Allen, who was reported missing after she was last seen leaving her dorm at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, at around 9:22pm on December 13.

Security footage released by the school showed her wearing a jacket and skirt as she exited the building.

Madelyn was found five days at Brown’s home, police say.

The 19-year-old was found naked and covered in coal in the basement of her alleged captor’s home.

Brown was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice, aggravated kidnapping, rape and object rape.

On Wednesday, the 39-year-old made an initial court appearance where he pleaded with the judge to release him on bail so he could spend Christmas with his children.

Speaking via a video link from the Sevier County Jail, Brown said: “It would be nice to be home for Christmas. I don’t get to see my kids.”

Despite his plea, Judge Wallace Lee ordered Brown held without bail, citing his being wanted on a felony warrant from another county and posing a possible threat to the community.

The details of the case that have been made public thus far are minimal but chilling.

Officers spotted a slight, blonde-haired person in the basement of the home in Loa, Wayne County, which prompted police to obtain a search warrant, officials told the Salt Lake Tribune.

After police found Madelyn’s Snow College ID card in the residence, they searched the cellar and found the student in the coal room.

Court documents indicate Madelyn and Brown met online, in a group chat on the Kik app, and she intended to meet with him on December 13.

Madelyn revealed to police that she had spoken with a user named “Cowboy” and agreed to meet up with him.

According to authorities, Brown picked her up and drove her to his parents’ home 87 miles away from her school.

The affidavit alleged that Brown tied the 19-year-old up while he went to work, leaving enough slack for her to reach food and the bathroom.

The suspect has claimed that tying her up was a form of sexual role-play.

The affidavit also claims that on December 14, she realized “the situation she was in and began worrying she would not be able to leave.”

That same day Madelyn sent her family members a text that said, “I love you!”

Authorities believe Brown permitted her to send the text before taking her phone away.

After seeing a news report about the missing woman, Brown told police he threw her cell phone into the trash at a local store.

However, according to the affidavit, he told her he had shipped it to Arizona.

The out-of-the-blue text prompted Madelyn’s family to contact the police. Her college roommates also reported her disappearance to authorities.

Madelyn told police that Brown “raped her several times daily,” and that she did not want to have sex with him.

She said she was afraid to leave because he knew her family’s address and Brown had “threatened her, saying if she left or told anyone about him, he would come after her family and sister,” the affidavit claims.

At the Sunday press conference, Madelyn’s father, Jonathan, said he and his wife “dropped to [their] knees” when they learned she had been rescued.

“We are so excited to have our Maddie home,” her mother, Tanya, said.

“We love her so much. And she has been such a light and a joy in our lives.”

“We are overjoyed and relieved that she is safe,” a family spokesperson said at the news conference on Sunday.

“While she is now safe, the ordeal that she has been through is dangerous and traumatic. The experience and details and effects of which we’ve only begun to understand.

“She is a fighter. She is now a survivor. We are grateful that she is with us again so that we can help her heal and recover.”

Brown is due back in court for combined detention and a preliminary hearing on January 10.
