A Florida representative and ally of former President Donald Trump is drafting legislation to audit the 2020 presidential election after the secretary of state rejected his call for a review of the state’s five most populous counties.
State Representative Anthony Sabatini, a Republican closely aligned with Trump’s America First agenda, shared the first draft of the audit bill on Twitter Friday. The draft bill requires Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to appoint an independent third party to conduct a “forensic audit” of the 2020 election in “every precinct in each county with a population of 415,000 or more.”
Sabatini told Newsweek that the bill will be filed in the coming weeks. “Post-election audits should be normal procedure. Transparency and accountability ensures voter confidence,” he said.
Under the draft bill, the audit must begin by April 15, 2022, and be completed within 60 days. It also requires the auditors to submit a report to DeSantis, Florida Secretary of State Laurel M. Lee, the Division of Elections, supervisors of elections and state congressional leaders within 30 days of completion of the audit.
Despite Trump’s win in Florida during the 2020 presidential election, Sabatini asked Lee in July for an audit of the vote in Hillsborough, Miami-Dade, Boward, Orange and Palm Beach counties, which are five Democratic strongholds.
Lee quickly rejected the call, saying the state’s 2020 election “was accurate, transparent and conducted in compliance with Florida law.”
“A full forensic audit of the five counties must be done immediately. Florida voters’ confidence in our elections is at an all-time low. Disturbing revelations in Arizona, Georgia, and other states make clear that the Secretary of State needs to do more than attempt to secure future elections,” Sabatini wrote in a statement in July.
Sabatini, who has served Florida’s 32nd House district in Lake County since 2018, has supported Trump’s voter fraud conspiracy theory since the 2020 election. “I’m extremely thankful Biden lost in 2020,” he tweeted November 26.
Last month, Sabatini filed a new bill to name the longest highway in Florida, Highway 27, the “President Donald J. Trump Highway” to honor whom he called “one of America’s greatest presidents.”
He is also among a slew of political figures in Florida scheduled to speak at AmpFest 2021, an upcoming event taking place at Miami’s Trump National Doral in October that will feature conspiracy theorists and advocates of the radical QAnon movement. Other speakers include Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar, and longtime Trump ally Roger Stone.
I think every state should do a forensic audit. It makes sense to me that every voter in every state should feel their vote counted regardless of who the winners and losers are.
The Democrats know they are guilty of voter fraud that’s the reason they are trying to block every move the Republican’s make in order to convict them all. Biden handlers are pushing him as hard as they can to finish the mission of destroying America as we know and like it before the truth comes out about the corrupt Democratic party who are trying to be our dictators for ever.
