Bindi Irwin’s Grandfather Wants Nothing To Do With Family Even Though They Support Him Financially

Bindi Irwin has made a series of shocking claims about her estranged grandfather on social media, including the painful admission that he wants nothing to do with her.

On Sunday, Irwin, 22, posted photos of her father Steve Irwin, husband Chandler Powell and father-in-law Chris, with the caption, “three most incredible fathers in my life.”

However, when a fan asked about her grandfather, Bob Irwin, 81, her response was that the elder Irwin “shown no interest” in spending time with her or her family.

“He has returned gifts I’ve sent him after he opened them, he has ignored my correspondence and from the time I was a little girl he has ignored me, preferring to spend time doing anything else rather than being with me,” Irwin wrote. “He has never said a single kind word to me personally. It breaks my heart but it is not healthy to engage in an abusive relationship.”

Irwin admitted her mother, Terri, still writes to her grandfather and sends him Christmas gifts, but that she receives no response. The shocking admission from Irwin also reveals that her family has financially supported the grandfather since 1992.

“I hope everyone remembers to be kind to one another but most of all care for your own mental health,” she added. “I have struggled with this relationship my entire life and it brings me enormous pain.”

The elder Irwin has sadly been estranged from the family for many years. Although, there have been reports that Bindi’s grandfather has wanted to reach out to the family and his adorable new great-granddaughter. The report claimed that, despite the “decades-long” silence, he remains hopeful he’d be welcomed back into the family fold.

There have been no photos of the entire family together since 2007 at a memorial for Steve at Australia Zoo.
